Reflections

Maybe in a few years I'll look back at this and reflect.

Hell Froze Over

November 10, 2020

This morning I wake up and check the forums, one of the first posts was a 1969 Polara 500 Convertible for sale, initially I glazed over it but as I read on there was a comment with additional pictures of the car cleaned up. That was the point I made the call, literally. I called a friend who had a friend that was interested in buying a restored vintage CHP car. Right away I made contact with the seller to let them know I was interested in this car while I waited to hear about the sale of the CHP car. Within a couple hours I got word a sale was made.

Stepping back, for the last year plus I have been thinking about why I have the CHP car. As much as I may love the car it doesn't fit my lifestyle, I'm not a collector or investor, having a show car that gets dusted off for shows and events just didn't do it for me. I like driving my cars and this car just wasn't something you take out for Sunday drives.

A few weeks ago I told myself that maybe if I did just treat it as a car I could just take for a Sunday drive. That weekend I took it out and as much as I wanted to it just didn't work. Until you drive one of these cars on the highway it is hard to understand the issues involved, I just didn't enjoy that aspect. It wasn't anything new but heading to shows I dealt with it as it was part of going to the show.
